Because we didn't go out to the house...I'll dream about appliances and our new kitchen!!

We've gotten used to going out to the house every weekend.   Since we were out on Wednesday for the pre-drywall meeting and the end of the week would just be inspections; we skipped going out there this weekend.  It's kind of funny how that changes your weekend.  We were pretty bummed not going out there so we decided to do some appliance shopping.

We plan on not buying appliances until we get the "go ahead" after closing.  But, we thought we might as well check out the July 4th sales anyway.  We will be buying a refridgerator as well as new washer and dryer (because we'll either leave our current washer/dryer here for renters or sell it to upgrade to higher capacity).

Right now our top picks are both stainless steel french door Samsung refridgerators.  The cheaper one does not have ice/water in the door and is about 26 cubic feet.  The other is about $400 more but has the ice/water in the door and I think was slightly larger.  We're hoping to catch a sale or scratch/dent because I'd really prefer to have an option for filtered water.  We currently have a water filter on our sink but with the pull-down faucet we will be getting; that won't be an option.

For washer/dryers we are either looking at the Electrolux 4.2 Steam washer and dryer (I'm hoping to find the blue or turqoise) or the Samsung 4.0 Steam washer and dryer (in platinum).  We decided not to get pedestals.  They are just so pricey and since we have the tray for 2nd floor laundry under the washer the drawer wouldn't be useable anyway.  We've had our current front-loaders without pedestals for 6years and even though I don't like them that low, it's not worth $400 or more to have them raised (and actually having them lower means we could possibly put a countertop above).  Our PM also suggested not getting pedestals because I was concerned about vibration/noise in a 2nd floor laundry and he said the pedestals make them louder/shake more.

And just because we're excited here's some pics of our soon-to-be kitchen!

Pics of the model show our kitchen layout:

  2. Try your hardest to get a scratch and dent. We got this Samsung from Lowes. It was dented amd scratched(really all to small to really even notice) and we got it for almost $1000 off. See post:
